Oxford Casino Spreads Cheer
A “Leis-y” Day in Oxford Hills
OXFORD, Maine (August 22, 2014) – For the third, consecutive summer Oxford Casino ordered 240, fresh orchid leis to help spread good cheer to some of the area’s nursing homes.
On the morning of August 22, 100 of the fresh, flower necklaces were brought to the Maine Veteran’s Home in South Paris, where Emerson Jepson was the first to receive one at the facility. 80 leis were then delivered to Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center, where they were planning their ALS ice bucket challenge. While the remaining, 60 leis were given to the Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn.
“We want to continue to make donations that not only help meet the basic needs of those in our community but also show kindness and appreciation for our veterans, neighbors and follow community partners,” said Jack Sours, Vice President and General Manager of Oxford Casino. “This was a great opportunity.”
If you, or your organization, are interested in donating flowers to individuals in healthcare facilities, be sure to call the nursing homes to see what types of flowers they may accept. The Maine Veteran’s Home can be reached by dialing 207-743-6300 and the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center’s number is 207-743-7075. The Good Shepherd Food Bank’s number is 207-782-3554.
